Curriculum

The Early Childhood Education Programs are based on the California Preschool Learning Foundations', Learning Development Guidelines and the Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP). All aspects of a child's development and growth are considered. Our goal is to ensure that all children are making progress in the domains of physical, cognitive, and social-emotional development.

The district has adopted Frog Street for Pre-K Curriculum. The program helps to create a rich environment that instills a passion and love of literature, math, science, and hands-on experiences for children throughout the day. The curriculum is developmentally appropriate with a special emphasis on inclusive practices, cultural responsiveness, social emotional development, and Kindergarten readiness. Learning activities are planned to meet the individual needs of the child and are designed to help prepare young children to be successful in regular school.

In addition, our Early Childhood Education Program also implements the Second Step Early Learning Curriculum.  Second Step teaches children skills for learning, (i.e., paying attention, building relationships, managing their emotions and problem solving).  When children learn these skills, school success increases, and problem behaviors decrease.
